Milo J. Schaffner Jr., 68, of Van Wert, died at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born July 9, 1947, in Van Wert, the son of Milo E. "Boots" Schaffner, who preceded him in death, and Dorothy M. (Sherburn) Kaduk, who survives in Van Wert. On May 8, 1965, he married Jo (Fowler) Schaffner, who also survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include three children, Gregory (Cheryl) Schaffner and Brian (Lisa) Schaffner, both of Van Wert, and Jason (Linda) Schaffner of Middle Point; two sisters, Sande (Cal) Hasty of Bowie, Texas, and Carolyn Blue of Van Wert; six grandchildren, Patricia Bigham, Brittin Schaffner, Lincoln Schaffner, Cody Schaffner, Sidney Schaffner and Sage Schaffner; and four great-grandchildren, Macein, Morgein and Maverik Bigham and Benjamin Schaffner.
Mr. Schaffner was a Van Wert County farmer and owned Schaffner Tool & Die in Van Wert. He was a current Hoaglin Township trustee, was president of the Van Wert County Township Association, a member of the Republican Central Committee, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a past president of the Lincolnview Local Board of Education.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 20, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hoaglin Township.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at the funeral home.
