Naomi Genevieve (McCoy) Wheeler, 92, passed on with her Lord and Savior at her side on June 6, 2014.
She was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Marshall, Illinois, to Rev. James E. and Dorothea B. (Zimmerman) McCoy.
On June 1, 1940, she married Charles E. Wheeler.
To this union were born two daughters: Joan C. Lockhart and Sharon W. Hernandez. Mrs. Wheeler had 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Donald McCoy, daughter: Sharon, son-in-law: Joe Hernandez, son-in-law: Jim Lockhart, and two infant grandchildren.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of The First Church of God. She worshipped and served in the Van Wert congregation in committees, teaching, and custodial service for many years. She retired from domestic assistance for several families in the Van Wert area.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at The First Church of God in Van Wert, Ohio. The services will be officiated by Pastor Jay Watts. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mercer County, Ohio.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, and there will be one hour of calling prior to the service at the church.
Preferred memorials may be made to the First Church of God, Youth Department.
