Nellie Mae Hartman, 64, of Van Wert went to be with the Lord at 11:02 PM Thursday June 9, 2011. She passed away at the Dekalb County Hospital in Auburn, Indiana. She was born June 20, 1946 to the late Elmer Marshall and Thelma (Rodman) Baker. Nellie is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jerry L. Hartman. She was the loving mother of three daughters: Beverly J. (Kevin) Caldwell, Kelly R. (Stephen) Mengerink and April R. (Scott) Dicke. Eight grandchildren: Joshua Caldwell, Jerad Caldwell, Haley Dicke, Zachary Dicke, Gavin Dicke, Olivia Dicke, Hannah Mengerink and Abby Mengerink; one great granddaughter: Kara Caldwell; two brothers: Elmer (Cheryl) Baker, Jr. of Payne, Ohio and Glenn (Joyce) Baker of Haviland, Ohio; five sisters: Erma Pratt of Haviland, Ohio , Rose Maples of Haviland, Ohio, Carolyn (Jerry) Goins of Haviland, Ohio, Joann (Roger) Barker of Defiance, Ohio and Toni (George) Searfoss of Haviland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Baker. She attended Wayne Trace High School, was a homemaker, loved her family, crafting, quilting and sewing. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13 at 11:00 am at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, Ohio. Rev. Jim Burns will officiate. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday June 12 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory. Preferred memorials may be given to Muscular Dystrophy Foundation or Lupus Foundation.
