Nellie Hoghe

Nellie M. Hoghe, 98, of Van Wert, died at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Vancrest of Van Wert. She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Macy (Balliet) Balyeat and Dennis Balyeat.
She married Ivan N. Hoghe on Feb. 3, 1979. He preceded her in death Aug. 26, 2008.
She worked in the accounting department of Continental Can Co. in Van Wert for 37 A½ years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Van Wert. She was formerly active in the Ruth Esther Circle of the church. She was a 1939 graduate of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, a member of the Association of University Women, a life member of Van Wert DAR, and a member of the Van Wert VFW and American Legion auxiliaries.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Hal Shafer will officiate. Burial will be in Harrison Baptist Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitation is 9 - 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is First Presbyterian Church, Van Wert.
