GROVER HILL, Ohio - Noel E. "Bud" Thomas, 84, of Grover Hill, died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Paulding County Hospital.
He was born May 15, 1928, in rural Grover Hill, to the late F. Verna (Busick) Thomas and Noble N. Thomas.
His wife, Eileen (Elston) Thomas, survives of Grover Hill.
Other survivors include his children: Ruby (Don) Crossland of Paulding, Ohio, and Nola (Gary) Ginter of Haviland, Ohio, grandchildren: Bethany (Matthew) Saris, Benjamin Ginter, Brittany (Matthew) Gurtzweiler, Maely (Garrett) Alexander, Martin (Shannon) Crossland, Jace (Fiance - Natalie Hanson) Crossland, and great-grandchildren: Alexa, Jillian and Allison Saris, Kaitlyn and Kyle Gurtzweiler, Nicholas Alexander.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Margaret "Peggy" Bidlack.
He was a lifetime farmer, retired custodian from Wayne Trace Elementary in Grover Hill and had formerly worked at Sylvania in Ottawa, Ohio. He was a member of the Grover Hill Lion's Club, attended Middle Creek United Methodist Church, was a Boy Scout, coached girl's softball for many years and was a 1946 graduate of Grover Hill High School.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Middle Creek United Methodist Church, rural Grover Hill. The Rev. Gary Ginter will officiate. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Preferred memorial is Middle Creek United Methodist Church.
