Norman A. Bidlack, 88, of Van Wert, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Vancrest of Van Wert.
He was born June 28, 1927, in Paulding County, Ohio, to the late Nancy Ann (Matson) Bidlack and Noble G. Bidlack.
His wife, Mary C. (Martin) Bidlack, survives of Van Wert. They were married Aug. 20, 1950.
Other survivors include children, Nancy A. (Kent) Bowen of Angola, Indiana, and Susan K. (Robert) Brubaker of Van Wert; a brother, Noble G. Bidlack of Continental, Ohio; sisters, Marcille Porter Britton of Defiance, Ohio, Ellen (Walter) Carnahan of Oakwood, Ohio, Juanita (Howard) Vogelsong of Defiance, Ohio, and Francis (LeRoy) Heidenescher of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Janet Bidlack of Oakwood, and grandchildren, Allison (Blaine) Cooper-Surma, Alexis Bowen, Luke Brubaker, and Leah Brubaker.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis A. Bidlack, at age 10, and a brother, Orville Bidlack.
He was a journeyman electrician with Gorman Electric for over 35 years, partner with D.L. Communications CB Radios, and performed FCC required communications work for the Van Wert Airport. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Van Wert, where he had held many church offices through the years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served as a radar operator in Germany, a life member of Van Wert American Legion, and a member of the Lima I.B.E.W. Local 32 for over 60 years.
Norman and Mary traveled to all 50 states and throughout the world together. He also restored antique radios for many years. He was a caring and committed Christian who loved his family and friends dearly. He will be deeply missed.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Dr. Seeyong Lee and Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military graveside services being conducted by Van Wert American Legion and VFW. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, and again Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Preferred memorial is Wesley United Methodist Church.
