Opal Wilkinson

VAN WERT, Ohio - Opal V. Wilkinson, 98, of Van Wert, died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at the Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
She was born June 2, 1913, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Agnes (Hyndman) Pollock and William H. Pollock. Her husband, Richard T. Wilkinson, died in October 1979. They were married Dec. 25, 1941.
Survivors include her children: T. Curtis Wilkinson of Fremont, Ind., Craig Wilkinson of Columbus, Ohio, and Lynn (Guy) Ary of Worthington, Ohio, her grandchildren: Grant (Jackie) Wilkinson of Quakertown, Pa., Brooke C. (J.J.) Wilson of Reminderville, Ohio, Joy (Michael) Plumble of Canton, Ohio, and T. Cyle (Bridget) Wilkinson of Venedocia, Ohio, and great-grandchildren: Townsend Cayden Wilkinson, Mya Brynn Wilkinson, Quinn Alise Wilson, Mason Dale Plumble and Annaston Roa Plumble.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Dwain, Everett and Arlo Pollock, and sisters: Zelma Painter and Lela Pollock.
She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert. She was also a member of the Van Wert Chapter of Order of Eastern Star and a former member of the Alpha Delta Omega Sorority. She loved to travel and had visited 72 countries and islands during her lifetime and had played basketball at the former Ridge School which later became Lincolnview School where her granddaughter also played basketball.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. The Rev. Dave Dennis will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Friends may call from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is to the church, Van Wert CHP Hospice Program, or the St. Rita's Hospice Program.
