Paul Hoverman

Paul B. Hoverman, 96, of Van Wert, died at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. He was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Van Wert, to Clara Cecil (Johnson) Hoverman and Benjamin H. Hoverman. His parents are deceased.
His wife, Betty J. Fisher, is deceased. They were married Sept. 1, 1949.
Survivors include his children, Lewis Hoverman of Craig, Colorado, James (Jeanne) Hoverman of Pickerington, Ohio, Karen (Tim) Barrick of Newville, Pennsylvania, Larry (Jill) Hoverman of Van Wert, 18 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
His daughter, Paula Ryan, and a sister, Marietta Swaine, are deceased.
He was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army. He retired in 1982 from the Van Wert County Highway Department after 30 years.
He was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church and the American Legion.
Private graveside service will be held at Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, with military honors rendered by the combined units of the Van Wert VFW and American Legion. Pastor Clark Williman will officiate.
No visitation is planned.
The family has request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice or to Calvary Evangelical Church Reis Memorial Fund.
