Paul Morehead

CONVOY, Ohio - Paul "Buckshot" Morehead, 84, of Convoy, went home to be with the Lord at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at his residence.

He was born March 1, 1929, in Convoy, to the late William and Elsie (Speelman) Morehead.

Paul was a loving husband to his wife of 63 years. On April 26, 1950, he married Dorothy Mitchell in Funston, Ga. Paul was also a wonderful father to two sons, Greg (Jan Tracy) Morehead of Scott, Ohio, and Rick Morehead of Defiance, Ohio, and one daughter, Jackie McIntosh of Convoy. He was an awesome grandfather to his grandchildren: Jennifer Brown, Krystal DeMoss, Ben (Lori Ricker) McIntosh, Bridget (Jeremy) Day, Ricky (Nicole) Morehead, Paul (Amanda) Morehead, Joe (Terel) Morehead and Annie Morehead and 18 great-grandchildren. He had a beloved dog, Phoebe. Paul is also survived by two siblings: William (Betty) Morehead of Van Wert, Ohio, and Lola Mae Holmes of Convoy.

He retired in 1989. He was employed at W.T. Grant's, Lare Grain and Elston Dairy. Paul was a past member of the Convoy Grange, Convoy Fox Hunters and Convoy Volunteer Fire Department. He had served on Convoy Village Council and as a Convoy night marshal. He was also a partner in Morehead and Sons Bee business in Ohio and Georgia.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Walter Holmes, and his mother- and father-in-law: Cleo and Julius Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Convoy United Methodist Church, Convoy, with the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will follow in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Convoy. A luncheon will be served at Convoy United Methodist Church immediately following committal services. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Gearhart-Jurczyk Funeral Home in Convoy.
