Paul "Pete" Robey of St. Marys, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. He had a great life all the way to 97. Pete joined the Army as a young man and trained as a pilot. As he was finishing his training World War Il ended. So Pete bought himself a motorcycle and road all the way to Colville, Washington where his cousin lived. Unbeknownst to him, it was there that he would meet his wife, Lucy Scott. They have been married for 74 years.
Pete grew up in Ohio farm country and was an excellent carpenter. He worked in Van Wert for Aeroquip and later ran a business called Axle Surgeons. He joked he was now in the medical field.
When his children were young, Pete and Lucy bought a camper trailer and camped all over the United States including Yellowstone and Glacier Park. They all had so much fun.
Together, Pete and Lucy raised five kids. When they all left the nest, Pete said he wanted to buy an RV and travel around the country. And that's just what he and Lucy did. They travelled around the U.S.A. visiting relatives, eventually landing in Yuma, Arizona. They knew just about everyone in a huge RV park there where they lived for 25 years. Six years ago, Pete and Lucy decided to move back to Ohio where their daughter, Janeen lives.
Pete is survived by his wife, Lucy; daughter, Sandy (Doug Campbell) Robey; daughter, Paula (Bobbi Ames) Robey; daughter, Janeen (Eric) Hayes; daughter, Shari (Robb) Macdonald; four grandchildren: Dylan (Alicia) Hayes, Colton (Amy) Hayes, Hanna Robey, Jameson Macdonald; great grandchildren: Izabella Hayes; Hudson & Rediker Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven Paul Robey.
Pete will be deeply missed by his children; grandchildren and especially wife Lucy.
There will be no service at this time. There will be a graveside service at a later yet to be determined date.
In lieu of flowers or gifts we would ask that you do a Random Act of Kindness in Pete's name. Lift someone up, make them smile, or just speak a few kind words to someone that may need it.
