Paula Koenemann

Paula "Polly" O. (Etzler) Koenemann died at 2:20 am Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born September 21, 1918 in Convoy Ohio to Martha (Muntzinger) Etzler and Fred Etzler. She married Robert (Bob) Koenemann on November 16, 1941. He preceded her in death in 2007.
She is survived by her children: Elaine (Chuck) Fischer of New Salisbury IN; Connie (Jan Campa) Koenemann of Ogden UT; and Leta Schieber of Concord NC. Her grandchildren are Lori Fischer, Susan Fischer, Carla Smith, Jason Schieber and Chad Schieber. Great-grandchildren are Joshua, Alex, Steven and Luke Schieber and Jacob, Hanna and Katelynne Smith. She is also survived by two sisters: Dorothea Gehres of Oviedo FL and Nora Horecny of Louisville KY.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, Gerald, Norman and Erwin Etzler, her sister, Frieda Schumm, and another sister, Pauline, who died in infancy
Paula grew up on the farm during the Depression and graduated from Convoy High School. She was a homemaker until her children were in school. Then she worked in the cafeteria of Crestview High School. She was a 4-H advisor. After their retirement, she and Bob were volunteers for the Red Cross, making many blood runs between area hospitals during the 1980s and 1990s. They also volunteered at the Van Wert County Hospital for many years. After Bob's death, Paula volunteered at the Convoy Care Center (now Vancrest). She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy OH, where she also gave her time, most recently in the card ministry. The family would like to thank the staff at Vancrest of Convoy for their kindness during Paula's stay there.
Services will be at 11 am on Friday, July 1 at Redeemer Lutheran Church Convoy. The Rev. Michael Saylor will officiate. Burial will be in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Convoy.
Calling hours are 5-8 pm Thursday, June 30 at the Gearhart & Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, and 1 hour prior to service on Friday, July 1 at the church.
