Pauline Marie Shaffer, 90, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Van Wert, passed away at 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital n Lexington, KY. She was born February 23, 1928, in Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Henry & Pearl (Gehm) Bollenbacher.

A 1946 graduate of Rockford High School, Pauline went on to marry the love of her life, Leland H. Shaffer in 1948. She worked for 25 years with Bonton Leather before retiring. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Church of Christ in Rockford. Her and Leland enjoyed refinishing antiques and visiting garage sales.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Dave) Akerman of Van Wert; Rhonda (Doug) Archbold of Lexington, KY; brothers, Jerry (Nita) Bollenbacher and Lowell Bollenbacker, both of Celina; grandchildren, Trisha (Josh) Font of Van Wert; Kyle (Shannon) Akerman of Van Wert; Shane Archbold of Lexington, KY; great grandchildren, Toni & James Acquaviva; Kristian Akerman; Ruby & Cohen Archbold; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Leland H. Shaffer; and brothers, Luther & Carrol Bollenbacher.

Funeral service will be held 11AM Thursday, June 27, 2018 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 1538 Oregon Rd Rockford, OH with Rev. Catherine Beckett presiding. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10 to 11AM at the church.

Preferred memorials are to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
