ROCKFORD, Ohio - Phyllis Hoblet Ayres died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Laurels in Rockford.
Phyllis was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Willshire, Ohio, to Vernon Hoblet and Wilma (Strickler) Hoblet. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant brother, son-in-law: John Casey and her husband: Dr. R.W. Ayres, M.D. whom she married in 1975.
Phyllis graduated from Willshire High School in 1946. She owned and operated the Hoblet Insurance Agency for many years and later worked in the insurance industry in Ft. Wayne, Indianapolis and Van Wert.
Phyllis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Van Wert where she served on the Board of Trustees and was actively involved in the choir. She was a member of the Isaac Van Wart Chapter of the National DAR - where she served as a regent and held other various offices. She had been inducted into the First Families of Ohio and Ohio Families of Civil War Veterans. She also was a volunteer at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Ted (Sandee) Bollenbacher, Rockford, and Karen Casey, Columbus; grandchildren: Adam (Julie) Bollenbacher, Coldwater, Aaron Bollenbacher, Van Wert and stepgrandson: Scott (LeAnna) Casey, Louisville, Ky.; two great-grandchildren: Abigail and Jacob Bollenbacher, and three stepgreat grandchildren: Aidan, Ellayna and Carlee Casey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 W. Crawford St. Van Wert.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private family graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
