Phyllis Myers

Phyllis J. Myers was called into the presence of the Lord on Friday, October 27, 2023. Born November 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late F.M. (Jack) and Nora Dell (McMichael) Girod. She married Lewis M. Myers in 1953. He passed away in 1994.

After graduating from Hoaglin-Jackson High School, Phyllis worked at Van Wert National Bank for three years until she married Lewis, after which, she became gofer, cook, and bookkeeper.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Myers of Van Wert; nieces, Mary Lou Prill of St. Joseph, Michigan; Karen Jones of Van Wert; and sister-in-law, Ruby Myers.

In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Girod; sister, Thelma Shindeldecker, and niece, Carole Sue Jass.

Phyllis belonged to St. Mark's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ester Circle, Prayer Chain and Church Women United. She was also a member of Hoaglin-Jackson Sunrise Club and volunteered for 40 years for the Red Cross where she worked many bloodmobiles.

A funeral service for Phyllis will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 160 W. Sycamore St.(Corner of N. Washington St. & W. Sycamore St.) Van Wert, Ohio 45891 with Rev. Will Haggis III presiding.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the funeral, from 9 to 11 AM, on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donors' choice.
