PAYNE, Ohio - R. Joan Gauvey, 83, Payne, died at 3:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Dallas Lamb Nursing Home, Payne.
She was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Paulding County, Ohio, to the late Anna (Parady) Harp and Clarence Harp. She married Lloyd Sutton and he died in 1973. Then, she married Rex T. Gauvey and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children: Darren J. (Sharon) Sutton of Payne and Carol Snyder of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; a brother: C. James (Elaine) Harp of Payne; one sister: Genevieve Stumbo of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren: Mitch Sutton, Amy Sutton, Mst. Sgt. Patrick Riley and Scott Riley, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Lois Ann Hudson and Janice Larson.
She worked in the activities department at Dallas Lamb Nursing Home for 13 years and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne.
Private family services were held. Burial was in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne. The Rev. Ronald Johnson officiated.
Preferred memorials are Dallas Lamb Activities fund or Paulding Community Health Professionals-Hospice.
