Richard Akom

SCOTT, Ohio - Richard H. "Doder" Akom, 74, of Scott, died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Vancrest Healthcare Center, Van Wert, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 20, 1938, in Van Wert, to the late Marcelle (Gause) Akom and Eugene Akom.
Survivors include his stepchildren: Robert Meggitt of Indianapolis, Ind., John Meggitt, Karen Meggitt, Laurie Bergman and Amy (Jeff) Cotterman, all of Scott, and Kristin (Dustin) Fitch of Sebring, Fla., and 19 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepchild: Tammy S. Gibson, his brothers: James, Robert, Donald, Morris and Daniel Akom, and sisters: MaryLou Tarlton, Jean A. Mullins and Becky Ladd.
He retired from Scott Equity Exchange, Scott.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Scott.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
