Richard E. Gallaway, age 75, of Van Wert, OH passed away at 2:30PM Saturday December 19, 2015 at Van Wert Manor. He was born May 21, 1940 in Van Wert, OH to the late Carl and Flo (Williamson) Gallaway. He is also preceeded in death by his sister, Marjorie Linser

On October 29, 1990 Richard married Julia (Hooker) Mengerink Gallaway, in Williamsburg, VA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Nicole (FiancAC., Ty Fiegel) Whitaker of Van Wert, OH; Aaron Gallaway of Providence, RI; stepson: John (Lynn) Mengerink of Plainfield, IL; grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Nicholas Burgoon; step grandchild: David Mengerink; great-grandchild: Aubrie Moore; brother: William (Jeanne) Gallawy of Van Wert, OH; Jerry (Sandy) Gallaway of Nashville, TN Richard was a1958 graduate of Van Del High School and worked for Aeroquip in Van Wert for 32 years. His proudest moment was when he retired after 21 years from the Ft. Wayne Army Reserves as SGT E7. He loved working in the yard and making gift items in his workshop. He was a member of the American Legion in Van Wert and Wesley United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and VWF.
