NEW HAVEN, Ind. - Richard E. "Dick" Glossett, 77, of New Haven, formerly of Van Wert County, died at 6:07 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
He was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Van Wert, Ohio, to the late Esther (Kriegle) Glossett and Fred Glossett. On Oct. 8, 1976, he married Marilyn (Hanson) Glossett. She survives in New Haven.
Other survivors include his children: Teresa Glossett of Van Wert, Karen (Scot) Etgen of Convoy, Ohio, Tammy (Ted) Baker of Middle Point, Ohio, Kelly Glossett of Convoy, Rick (Olga) Glossett of Syracuse, Ind., Jeff (Betty) Glossett of Van Wert, Jeff (Debbie) Venderley of Middle Point, Chris (Sue) Venderley of Bribie Island, Australia, and Aaron Burris of Roanoke, Ind., 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Pat Pollock and Marjorie Glossett, who died in infancy.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Convoy. He retired from Rodoc in Delphos, Ohio. He had formerly been maintenance supervisor at Ft. Wayne Mack and Ft. Wayne Leasing. He was a former member of Grand Lake Motorcycle Club, Middle Point Snow Twisters Snowmobile Club, Van Wert Traveling Squares, was a former E.M.T. and volunteer firefighter for Middle Point Fire Dept. He was a former board member of the Anthis Diesel School in Fort Wayne, Ind., and had been a presenting couple for Lutheran Marriage Encounter in Indiana and Kentucky.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Convoy. The Rev. Rita Bair will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, at a later date.
Calling is 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 at the church.
