Richard "Dick" Johnson, 69, of Celina, passed away at 7:47 PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. Dick was born on September 26, 1944 to Ervin and Leota (Pangle) Johnson in Wauseon, Ohio. Leota is still living in the Rockford area. On May 3, 1969, Dick married Brenda Roberts. Brenda passed away in 2009. Dick lived most of his life in the Celina area and he attended Celina High School. He then enlisted in the Army in 1965. Dick served with the Armored Division until 1967. He then became a materials handler for the International Harvester Corporation until his retirement. He was a long-time member of the Eagles in Rockford as well as the Fallen Heroes organization. Surviving, besides his mother, are 2 daughters: Toni (Grady) Hauter, Glenmore, Ohio and Cindy (Brian Brown) Conn, Mendon. A brother, Don (Gerry) Johnson lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Two sisters: Diana (Paul) Hines and Sue Wenning live in Rockford, Ohio. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Zachary (Heather) Conn, Bradon Conn, Cassidy Conn, Melissa Hauter, and Katie Hauter. Dick did not meet Morgan Conn, his great-granddaughter. He did see many photos of her. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford. Pastor George Maddox will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mercer County Memorial Gardens of Celina. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 3rd from 3:00 - 8:00 PM and 1 hour before the service on Monday. The family wishes that memorial donations be made to the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center of Van Wert.
