Richard Moore, Sr

Richard Moore, Sr., 81, of Van Wert died Monday night, October 15, 2018 at Van Wert Health.  He was born August 16, 1937 in Providence, Kentucky to the late John and Robbie Moore.  On March 31, 1956 he married Mary James.  She survives of Van Wert.

Richard is also survived by his children; Raymond (Sylvia) Moore of Van Wert, Michael (Kimberly) Moore of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Tyrone (Debra) Moore of Ft. Wayne, Mary Turner of Van Wert, and Shari (Steven) Darnell of Van Wert; grandchildren, Tasha Oakley, Shakida Boddy, Ebony Moore, Sharell Moore, Michael Moore, II, Kyle Moore, Nicolas Moore, Kristin Moore, Derek Moore, Ethan Moore, Shante` Norton, Steven Darnell, Jr, Shatia Darnell, Julius Moore and Olivia Brown; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Richard retired from General Motors in Defiance, Ohio after 30 years of service.  He is a member of the Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church in Ft. Wayne where he served as a Deacon for over 40 years.  He enjoyed watching his westerns, fishing, checkers, and, when able, shooting pool.  Richard loved serving his Lord, was a very complimentary and a man of very good taste and style.  Most importantly, he left a legacy of being a productive, family-oriented adult to his children.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two children, Richard “Popeye” Moore, Jr. and Sharlene Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials may be directed to the family.
