MIDDLE POINT, Ohio a�" Richard E. Putman, of Middle Point, died at 4:24 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born May 7, 1934, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Elizabeth (Walter) Putman and Oliver Putman.
He is survived by his loving companion of 28 years, Mary Ann Meihls, of Middle Point.
Other survivors include his children, Diana (Chris) Creekmore of Van Wert, Ohio, David Putman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Dennis (Laura) Putman of Van Wert; stepchildren, Gary (Shelly) Meihls and Ron (Diana) Meihls, both of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Deborah Fox of Green Cove Springs, Florida; a sister, Sharon Feasby of Monroeville, Indiana, and grandchildren, Eric (Alyssa) Putman, Tyler Putman, Alyson (Anthony) Carter, Johnathan Putman, Ashley (Cory) Compton, Drew (Katie) Creekmore, Spencer Creekmore; stepgrandchildren, Crystal Meihls, Sabrina Meihls, Corey Meihls, Marie Meihls, Lisa Meihls, Ryan Meihls, Loran Manning, Will (Misty) Fox; great-grandchildren, Easton Putman, Addison Putman, Evelyn Carter, Madyln Goodwen, Lillian Compton, and stepgreat-grandchildren, Sierra Meihls, Serenity Meihls, Liam Manning, William Fox, Mary Ann Fox, and Waylon Fox.
He was a retired truck driver. A veteran of the United States Army, he was a member of Van Wert County Harness Horseman Association and Indiana Standardbred Association.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, with military graveside services conducted by Van Wert VFW and American Legion.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Van Wert Inpatient Hospice or Middle Point Fire & EMS.
