Richard Lee Wiseman, son of Waldo Wiseman and Violet nAC.e Girod, was born on June 13, 1939, in Decatur, Ind. He was reborn as a Child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism. On Dec. 2, 1979, he publicly confessed his faith and was confirmed into the Lutheran Church where he received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood. On Dec. 4, 1976, he received the gift of a beloved companion in his wife Carolyn Calista nAC.e Miller as they were united in marriage at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Van Wert, Ohio, by Rev. Lloyd Gross. Dick was blessed with the gift of children, Lori and Jason. God blessed Dick's life with many special people as he served God in his vocation at home, church, work, and in the community.
He worked at International Harvester/Navistar for thirty-four and one-half years from 1961 until 1996 as a forge worker in Fort Wayne, Ind., and as a final inspector in Springfield, Ohio. Dick served his country in the Indiana National Guard and the Army Reserve. He was a skilled wood craftsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved dogs (Tessie). As a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church he rejoiced to receive God's gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation as part of the Body of Christ. Finally, on May 3, 2011, he entered the Church Triumphant to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry, his daughter Deborah Lynn and son David Lee. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; his daughter Lori (Dan) Freund and their son Seth and daughter Shelby (Robert) Esparza who blessed Dick with great-granddaughters Evali and Xehrya; and his son Jason (Jackie) Wiseman and their children Sarah and Noah. Dick will be remembered by a host of loving friends and family.
