It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Robert E. Barnes, affectionately known to friends and family as "Red." Red departed this world peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on July 30, 1936, in Bluffton, Indiana, to the late Charles E. and Helen D. (French) Barnes.

Red was a proud veteran who served in the Marines, and he lived a full life as a handyman-the kind of guy who could fix just about anything you threw at him. He truly was a man of many talents.

Red had a love for life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed camping trips, lively cookouts, and spending evenings playing solitaire with a deck of cards. His fondness for watching sports and news kept him connected to the world around him. Red had a special soft spot for good food, especially cornbread, biscuits, bean soup, and a glass of buttermilk.

A true lover of cinema, his favorite movie, "O Brother Where Art Thou?" never failed to bring a smile to his face.

He is survived by his devoted spouse, Sharon Barnes, stepchildren: John (Chelsea) Murphy, Allan (Lynette) Murphy, Katina Murphy; all of Van Wert; brothers: Clarence (Dorothy) Barnes of East Hampton-Long Island, New York, Paul (Gina) Barnes of Decatur, Indiana, sisters: Donna (George) Dillman, Sue Weaver, Cathy (Max) Oswalt, all of Bluffton, Indiana; as well as numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two stepsons: Vincent Murphy, Shane Murphy and two brothers: Charles Barnes and Jack Barnes.

Red will be cremated according to his wishes. There will be no public services.
