Robert Muntzinger

VAN WERT, Ohio a�" Robert W. "Bob" Muntzinger, 86, of Van Wert, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Van Wert, the son of the late Emil and Harriet (Wilson) Muntzinger.
On June 11, 1950, he married Lucille F. Grant, who survives of Van Wert.
Other survivors include his children, Karen (Kenneth) Mengerink and Kurt (Nancy) Muntzinger, both of Van Wert, grandchildren, Kenn (Denise) Mengerink, Krista Mengerink, Andrew (Sara)Berelsman, Kyle Muntzinger and Chad Muntzinger, and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Muntzinger was a 1945 graduate of Convoy High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in March 1946 for basic training and was then sent to General Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. On July 24, 1947, Bob was discharged and flown back to the United States. From January 1948 until March 1951, he attended Kent State University and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He was affiliated with Delta Upsilon fraternity.
Bob began his career at Central Mutual Insurance Company in April 1951 and retired as vice president and manager of Central Insurex Agency in July 1992. In October of 1977, at Central, Bob received his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters designation.
Mr. Muntzinger was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., life member of B.O.P.E. Lodge 1197, was a volunteer for American Red Cross, member of Willow Bend Country Club, YMCA, Wassenberg Art Center and Van Wert Historical Society.
Family and friends may call from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Hal Shaffer. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military graveside services conducted by combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and V.F.W. posts.
Preferred memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
