VAN WERT, Ohio - Robert P. Spath, 75, Van Wert, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Van Wert Manor, Van Wert.
He was born Aug. 17, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Florence (Johnson) Spath and John Spath. His wife, Sarah Joann (Cipolla) Spath, survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include his children: Denise (Bill) Bamber of Hudson, Ohio, Colleen Simon of North Olmsted, Ohio, and Robert (Sara) Spath of Van Wert, a sister: Carol Moran, Atlanta, Ga., and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in two brothers: John Spath & Charles Whitehead.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert. He retired from Howard Johnsons in Santa Fe, N.M. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Van Wert Council on Aging.
Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Matt Braun will officiate.
Friends may call from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at the funeral home.
Military services will be held by combined units of the Van Wert Am. Legion and VFW.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home to buy 4 ipads for speech therapy.
