Roderick Edwin Farmer, 72, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 4:55 PM at the Laurels of Shane Hill. Rod was born in Celina on March 24, 1942 to Edwin and K. Rosalie (Williams) Farmer. He married Elsie Miller on May 29, 1965. She passed on February 11, 2007. Rod married Yvonne Beeks on October 7, 2007 and she survives. Rod was a life-long resident of the area. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1960. He then took up farming and worked for International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He retired from that company after 20 years of service. Rod was also a member of the Praise Point United Brethren Church in Willshire, Ohio. Surviving with his wife are one daughter and two step-sons: Anita Renee (Kevin) Morton of Rockford, Ohio; Dave (Kazumi) Grimm of Phoenix, Arizona and Jon Grimm of Nampa, Idaho. Rod's brother, John (Judy) Farmer of Rockford survives as well. Rod was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren: Connor, Tessa, Duncan and Aidan Morton and Asato Grimm. Funeral services will be held at Praise Point United Brethren Church in Willshire on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Friends and family may call on Sunday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford from 2:00 until 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Camp Cotubic of Bellefontaine, Ohio.
