Roger A. Mitchell, 79 of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 in Pensacola, FL. Roger was born in Van Wert, Ohio on May 1, 1941. He graduated from Ohio State University where he excelled on the Varsity Tennis team and as a member of the prestigious Ohio State marching band. He was an active member of The Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After college Roger joined the Armed Forces and was proud of his time in the Armed Forces Band.
Roger spent many years as a highly successful Bond Trade in the 80s and later, a respected Insurance Company Executive.
Roger was an avid and skilled sailor as the owner and captain of several yachts over the years. Roger found great joy in participating in the Chicago and Port Huron to Mackinac Races, along with many other port to port and regattas over the years.
He was an active member for many years in his favorite clubs including Lyford Cay Bahamas, Glenview IL, Kirkland, OH.
Roger cherished his friends and family always sharing a hearty laugh. He was also a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians, making sure he watched every game when possible. He also collected art and antiques and loved to cook and entertain. His life was lived to the fullness.
Roger is mourned by his family and many friends.
Graveside Service will be 3:00pm Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at the Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, OH.
