Roger Tomlinson

Roger J. Tomlinson, 83, of Van Wert, went to be with his Lord & Savior at 7:54 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, to the late Mary (Tribolet) Tomlinson and John Tomlinson.
His wife, Carroll (Zinsmeister) Tomlinson, is deceased.
Survivors include his children: James (Marilyn) Tomlinson and Julie (Jeff) Buggle, both of Van Wert; a brother: Dean Tomlinson of Van Wert; sister: Phyllis Lininger of Van Wert; sister-in-law: Lou Tomlinson of Van Wert; five grandchildren: Joshua Allen Tomlinson, Kristy Michelle Tomlinson, Tiffany McIntosh, Melissa Terhark and Ashley Collins, and four great-grandchildren: Abram & Brody Collins and Natalie & Griffin Terhark.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Rex Tomlinson.
He retired in 1985 from Wenham Transportation after 27 years of service. He had also worked at Jones Motor.
He was a veteran of the United States Army - serving honorably from 1950-1956 and achieving the rank of Sgt. First Class. He was also a member of the Van Wert American Legion.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Dennis Peters will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
