Ronald Pruden

Ronald Eugene Pruden, 75, of Van Wert, passed away at 1:51 PM on July 16, 2020 in Fort Wayne. He was born on December 06, 1944, in Van Wert to the late Paul D. and Helen E. (McKee) Pruden.

After high school, Ronald went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On December 14, 1969, he married the love of his life, Regena L. Martin. Together, they shared years of memories.

Ronald was employed as a punch press operator and later in the lab at Federal Mogul for over 40 years. He was a member of the VFW and formerly of the American Legion. Before he lost his mobility, Ronald enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing with his boys and reading. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He is greatly missed by his dog, Scotty.

He is survived by his children: Vivian (Brian) Freeth of Avon, IN; Ronda (Brian) Niemeyer of Fort Jennings; Paul (Leslie) Pruden of Van Wert; Vance (Deborah) Pruden of Fort Wayne; and brother, Dean (Jenny) Pruden of Van Wert; 13 grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Regena; sister, Judith Pratt as well as granddaughters, Heather and Allyssa Pruden.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home with Rev Jim Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, 10968 Woodland Ave. Van Wert, OH 45891. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM til service times on Wednesday.

Although family and friends are invited to attend Ronald's visitation and service, we continue to be cautious and concerned for those who are most vulnerable, the elderly and those with serious health issues. We strongly urge everyone to remain vigilant and respect the well-being of the family members and friends who are at risk. Attendees are asked to observe social distancing, refrain from close physical contact, and wear facial coverings as able.

Memorial contributions in Ronald's memory may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, CHP Homecare and Hospice, or to the Van Wert Humane Society.
