Ronald "Pete" "Weddle, 81, of Rockford, Ohio, died early Thursday morning at his home, after a brief illness. He was born on August 15, 1931, in the home in which he lived, to Howard Weddle and Lucille Houser Cook, and was raised by William and Louella Andrews of Rockford, all of who preceded him in death. On September 26, 1959, he married Myra Birt, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, Ohio. Myra survives in Rockford. Also surviving are his children whom he took great pride in: two sons, Randy and Jackie (Sapp) Weddle of Dayton, Ohio, Rick and Kae (Innis) Weddle of Vandalia, Ohio, and one daughter, Laura and Michael Roth of Rockford, Ohio. Two sisters survive: Marsha Higgens of Union City, Indiana, and Lynne Cook of Union City, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Heather (Weddle) Bontempo of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Andy Weddle of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Christopher Roth of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ethan Weddle of Vandalia, Ohio, Amy Roth of Rockford, Ohio, Hannah Weddle of Vandalia, Ohio, and Kyle Roth, of Rockford, Ohio. In addition are a grandson-in-law, Clinton Bontempo, and two great-grandchildren, Cloe and Anthony Bontempo of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Pete was preceded in death by one grandson; a brother, Frank Weddle; and a brother-in-law, Robert Birt. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and has always lived in Rockford, Ohio. He loved his Rockford Community and his St. Teresa Church family. He traveled everywhere with a smile on his face and hoped that his smile would be contagious to everyone around. He loved young people and really enjoyed his time as a youth advisor. Pete loved his life and was devoted to his wife and family. He loved to play ball, golf, and fish with his kids and grandkids. He took pride in his home, yard, and his wife's flowers. He was a 1949 graduate of Rockford High School and was a hard worker on his farm and later extended that love of farming while working at New Idea, Landmark, Oxy, and Ohio Farmers. He will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013, at 10:30am at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford, with the Rev. Ken Alt officiating. Burial will be in Stringtown Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A prayer service will be held at 8:00 pm that evening. Memorials may be directed to the Rockford Recreation Association's "The Shanes Park Legacy Fund" or to the church.
