CONVOY, Ohio - Ruby Helen (Stuckey) McCoy, 84, of Convoy, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:37 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2011. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
She was born April 23, 1927, in Union Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Doyle and Jennie (Mefferd) Stuckey. On Aug. 1, 1945, she married Charles Robert McCoy in a military ceremony in Dothan, Alabama. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2008.
Mrs. McCoy was a homemaker and helped her husband on their grain and dairy farm. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy where she formerly served as a Sunday school teacher, directed the children's choir and was a member of the Redeemer Ladies Guild. She was a member of the adult choir for 62 years. She was a Red-Hat member, both in Van Wert County and in North Ft. Myers, Fla. She enjoyed spending many winters with her husband in warm, sunny Florida. She had attended 83 Van Wert County Fairs and had helped in showing the family (MACABOB) dairy herd with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her family's Crestview sporting events. She loved spending time with her family and the many cookouts at the family pond. She graduated from Union High School in 1945 and participated in school as a cheerleader and drum major. Her and her husband were both active in the Farmers Institute at Union School and were in a number of plays.
Mrs. McCoy is survived by her children: Dennis (Jill) McCoy, Jeff (Gale) McCoy, Kathy (Randy) Custer and Rick McCoy, all of Convoy, and Sherri (Dave) Springer of Van Wert. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, plus sisters, Naomi Jane Mason and Deloris (John) Myers of Van Wert and MaryLou Taylor of Rockford, Ohio.
A brother, Bruce Stuckey, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, with the Rev. Michael Saylor officiating. Burial will be in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Convoy. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, and an hour prior to service, all at the church.
There will be no calling hours or services held at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour of Worship or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
