Ruth A. Hughes, 87, of Van Wert, died at 6:58 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
She was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Ila (Southwick) Mohler and William Mohler.
Her husband, Dr. Donald E. Hughes, died Sept. 25, 1992.
Survivors include her children: Brett (Jann) Hughes of Versailles, KY, Douglas Hughes of Helena, MT, and Shirley (Eric) Kibler of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister: Dorothy (Phillip) Henderson of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: Glenn Hughes.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star, Willow Bend Country Club, TWIGS Group and the former Van Wert Woman's Club. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines and a member and past president of the Ft. Wayne Wally Byam Airstream Club.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. The Rev. Hal Shafer will officiate.
Friends may call from noon until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Van Wert Community Health Professionals or the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center
