Ruth E. (Baer) Saylor, 91, of Van Wert, passed away peacefully at 1:58 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at the Van Wert Manor. She was born in Van Wert on Nov. 16, 1925, to Wesley and Minnie (Crouse) Baer, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, MarLou (Cryer) Mengerink of Van Wert and Marsha (Cryer) Patton of Vero Beach, Florida; a sister, Rita (Paul) Linton of Celina; and sister-in-law, Joyce Baer of Van Wert; granddaughters, Tammy (Paul) Cugliari of Van Wert, Darcy (Duane) Kohler of Wapakoneta, Robin (Tracy Rase) Mengerink of Van Wert,Lisa(Brian) Hoersten of Delphos, Ohio, Alexis Patton of Vero Beach, Florida, and Allison Patton of Vero Beach, Florida; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Virgil Saylor; a son, Gregory Cryer; brothers, Lendall Baer, Kenneth Baer, William Baer, Richard Baer, Paul Bear and a brother who died in infancy; and sisters, Lylas Kinkle, Martha Bennett and Mary Evans.
As per her wishes, there will be no viewing or services. Burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Preferred memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Van Wert.
Arrangements are being handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and Crematory.
