WREN, Ohio - Samuel E. Lichtenberger, 67, of Wren, died at 1:02 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born May 4, 1943, in Wren, to the late Nellie (Burk) Lichtenberger and Dallas Harold Lichtenberger. His wife, Catherine (Stidham) Lichtenberger, survives of Wren.

Other survivors include his children: Leslie Lynn Lichtenberger of Paulding, Ohio, and Daryl E. (Brittany) Lichtenberger of Van Wert, Ohio; his stepchildren: Timothy Carpenter of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, Pepper Dawn (Gene) Rodman of Van Wert and Joey Densel of Scott, Ohio; two brothers: John (Wilma) Lichtenberger and Charles (Rose Elaine) Lichtenberger, both of Wren, Ohio; his grandchildren: Michael Coombs, Jr., Blaine W. Smeester, Amelia Earheart Lichtenberger; his stepgrandchildren: Timmy Carpenter, Abbigale Carpenter, Travis Dylan Carpenter, Jacob Boroff, Justin Boroff, Corbin Rodman, and great-grandchildren: Jaiden Coombs and Haiyley Storm Coombs.

He was preceded in death by a son: Eddie Dean Lichtenberger, two stepchildren and his twin brother, Donald Eugene Lichtenberger.

He retired from Sonoco Fibre Drum, Van Wert, after 30 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church, Van Wert. Music was a big part of his life. He played music every Saturday with J.R. Thatcher and Rustic Acre Band and For Max Priddy and That's God's Plan Band.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Jan. 22, 2011, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday Jan. 21 at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is to the family.
