Sara Adams

VAN WERT - Sara R. Adams, 93, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.

She was born on October 23, 1918 in Findlay, Ohio to Charles P. and Susan B. (Dunifon) Clark, both of whom are deceased. On July 7, 1939, she married Wilbur C. "Peck" Adams. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Robert C. (Deb) Adams of Van Wert, OH, Sherrill (Tom) Giessler of Madison,WI, and Patricia J. (Richard) Ward of Van Wert, OH; sisters, Pauline Wermer of Van Wert, Carolyn Dippery of Van Wert, and Josephine (Richard) Ditto of Madison, AL; a sister-in-law, Judith Clark of Lutz, FL; a cousin, William (Helen) Wilcox of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, John Giessler of Convoy, OH, Caroline (Christopher) Roe of Madison, WI, Dr. Melissa (Martin) Bowman of Convoy, OH, Miranda (Fiance-Adam Garcia) Ward of Lima, OH, Dr. Rebecca (Dr. Jacob Jones) Adams of Van Wert, OH, Dr. Elizabeth (Jason Haggerty) Adams of Van Wert, OH, and Rob (Madison) Adams, II of Van Wert; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Clark.

Adams was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Van Wert. She had formerly worked as a secretary for the First United Methodist Church and also Dr. Harold C. Smith and worked as a teller at the Van Wert National Bank. Adams was a member of the Wassenberg Art Center, the Van Wert Civic Theatre, and the Van Wert County Medical Assistants.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Preferred memorials are to Van Wert CHP Hospice Program or the First United Methodist Church.
