Scott Bowen

Scott M. Bowen, 59, of Rockford, Ohio, died Friday, July 8, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He was born in Van Wert, Ohio, on March 9, 1957, the son of Jack and Patricia Sue (Trisel) Bowen, both who have preceded in death. Scott graduated from Parkway High School in 1976, and on August 29, 1980, he married Barb Rhoades, and she survives in Rockford. Scott lived his entire life in Rockford, and attended New Horizons Community Church in Rockford. He and Barb owned and operated the Rockford Hardware for several years; he had previously worked at Mercer Landmark in Rockford, and at the Fremont Company, also in Rockford. Scott had coached little league baseball for the Rockford Recreation Association and had also coached Junior High Track at Parkway School. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing and camping with his family, and most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife Barb, are two sons: Lucas (Katie) Bowen of Norton, Ohio and Brandon (Kelsey) Bowen of Rockford; two brothers: Bruce (Darla) Bowen of Kendallville, Indiana, and Todd David Bowen of Bradenton, Florida; one sister, Pam Kay Bowen of Mendon, Ohio, and his four grandchildren. His step-mother, Sharon Bowen of Kimmell, Indiana, also survives. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. at 11:00 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Souers. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 3-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the Rockford Recreation Association--The Shanes Park Legacy Fund.
