Sharon Adkins

Sharon J. Adkins, 85, of Van Wert, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at her residence in Van Wert. She was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Convoy, Ohio, to the late Phyllis (Underhill) Glancy and Clinton Glancy.

Both Graydon Burdette Nihiser and Charles H. "Hobe" Adkins are deceased.

Survivors include her children, Gary L. (Tammy) Nihiser of Van Wert and Randy J. (Michelle) Nihiser of Valrico, Fla., and stepchildren, Lori (Dave) Royse of Convoy and Robert Adkins of Payne, Ohio. A sister-in-law, Laura Glancy, survives in Grover Hill, Ohio. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Glancy.

She retired from Aeroquip Corp., Van Wert, after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of North Union United Methodist Church, Van Wert. She volunteered for the Van Wert Council on Aging, Community Health Professionals and the Hospital Thrift Shop, all of Van Wert. She was a member of American Legion and VFW auxiliaries of Van Wert.

Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Greg Wack will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.

Preferred memorial is Van Wert Council On Aging or Community Health Professionals or to the church.
