Sheryle Ann Spurlin, age 63, started her new life in heaven on Friday, July 14, 2023. She had been ill for several months. She was born on July 17, 1959, in the Navy Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, to her father Harry E. Dunn Sr. and mother Mary Ellen (Burk) Dempsey. Sheryle spent most of her life as a homemaker. She also worked in home health care and prepared taxes.
Sheryle was known for being a loving and caring person. She gained enjoyment from sticking her toes in the sand, having a good phone conversation with family or friends, and watching her favorite TV shows, such as The Beverly Hillbillies and Andy Griffith. Sheryle had a gentle heart and was always there to offer love and support to her family and friends.
If you knew Sheryle in the last few years, you knew of her love for cats. She embraced the title of "crazy cat lady" as a badge of honor. Her feline companions brought joy and comfort to her life, and she showered them with affection.
Sheryle had many hobbies that brought her happiness. She found solace in crafting jewelry and often gifted her creations to cherished family members and friends. Her talent for creating beautiful pieces served as a reflection of her giving nature.
The light of Sheryle's life were her two sons, Orin (Arty) Spurlin of Scott, Ohio and Russell Spurlin of Valley, Alabama. They were the pride and joy that filled her days with purpose and meaning. To watch them grow into the remarkable individuals they became brought endless fulfillment to their loving mother.
Sheryle will be dearly missed by her sister Kathy Weck of Chesapeake, Virginia; brothers JR (Diana) Dunn of Smithfield, Virginia; Mark (Melissa) Dempsey of Spencerville, Ohio; Marshall (Trena) Dempsey of Van Wert, Ohio; Mitch Dempsey of Norfolk, Virginia; her step-father Maurice Dempsey of Van Wert, Ohio as well as many nieces and nephews. Her presence in their lives was a constant source of love and encouragement.
A celebration of Sheryle's life will be Saturday, July 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. at the Family Life Center at Trinity Friends Church, 605 North Franklin, Van Wert OH.
As we bid farewell to Sheryle, let us remember her as a compassionate and devoted individual. Her warm spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family and friends will forever be etched in our memories. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her heavenly abode.
