VAN WERT, Ohio - Shirley L. Miller, 76, of Van Wert, died at 3:39 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind.
She was born April 24, 1937, in Van Wert, to the late Ruth (Wilson) Ackom and Gerald "Bud" Ackom.
Her husband, Ronald B. Miller, survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include children: Kimberly A. (Dave) Clifton of Van Wert, Roderick E. (Dawna L.) Miller of Decatur, Ind., and Troy A. (Tina) Miller of Van Wert; brothers: Frederick (Diane) Ackom of Keizer, Ore., Barry (Kim) Ackom of Oviedo, Fla.; grandchildren: Carly and Kacy Clifton, Dani Ulman, Brittany and Kristi Lambright, AJ (Courtney) Miller, Rachel Miller, Cassity and LeAndryce Miller, and four great-grandchildren.
She retired from Harter Corp., Van Wert, after 18 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Van Wert American Legion Auxiliary and Twig IV of the Van Wert County Hospital. She was a Van Wert Red Hat member, worked at Touches of Time Antique Mall in Van Wert, loved garage sales, antiques and collecting blue bottles.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Twig IV.
