Shirley A. Saam, 78, of Van Wert, died at 3:46 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
She was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Wanda (Bader) Deitsch and Vilas Deitsch.
Her husband, Dale E. Saam, survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include children: Eugenia (Mark) Bishop of Lima, Ohio, and Rodney (Susan) Saam and Colleen (John) Wiley, both of Van Wert; brothers: Gary (Elaine) Deitsch and Gerald (Jeannie) Deitsch, both of Rockford, Ohio; sister: Nancy Cummins of Celina, Ohio, and grandchildren: Jonathan Tyler Bishop, Kayla Colleen Bishop, and Tyler James Wiley.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Reformed Church, Ohio City, Ohio.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at St. Paul's Reformed Church, Ohio City. The Rev. Chad Strabbing will officiate. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, Van Wert County, Ohio.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Preferred memorial is to the church.
