Stephan Lay

Stephan R Lay, 63, of Grover Hill passed away at 2:49 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at St. Vincent Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 25, 1955, in Van Wert, to his late parents, Richard F. and Olive M. (Stemen) Lay.

A 1974 graduate of Lincolnview High School, Stephan went on to marry the love of his life, Angela Storm on September 10, 1983. Together, they shared many years of memories.

Stephan was a lifelong farmer. In addition to raising crops, he raised pigs, milked cows and was very proud of his beef cattle. He also raised, bred and sold goats to the 4-H kids.

In his younger years and when time would permit it, Stephan enjoyed fishing, coon hunting and was formerly a member of the American Coon Hunter's Association. He retired from Kennedy Kit after 18 years and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church..

Surviving are his  wife, Angela Lay of Grover Hill; daughters: Caitlyn (Alex) Schmidt of Defiance; Nickie (Dale) Kosan of Scott; sister, Bonnie (Phil) McClure of Van Wert; brother, Ed (Lynn) Miller of Middle Point; as well as the second love of his life, and his pride and joy, granddaughter, Vivian Kosan.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, 722 S. Washington St. Van Wert, OH 45891 with Rev. Will Haggis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
