GROVER HILL, Ohio - T. Franklin Ferrell, 91, of Grover Hill, died at 8:03 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Ritchie County, W.Va., to the late Edith (Burdiss) Ferrell and Raymie Ferrell.
His wife, Maxine (Matthews) Ferrell, is deceased.
Survivors include his children: Allison (Earl) McClure of Payne, Ohio, Tom (Brenda) Ferrell and Leslie (Vinal) McClure, both of Grover Hill; son-in-law: Dick Stahl of New Haven, Ind.; sister: Betty Gilroy of Victor, N.Y.; grandchildren: Carrie (Duane) Sinn, Erin (Tim) Farrell, Matt (Jenni) Ferrell, Nathan Ferrell, Nick (Mary) Ferrell, Thomas Ferrell and Mitch (LeAnn) McClure.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Maureen Stahl, brothers: Charles Ferrell and Walter Lee Ferrell, who died in infancy, and a grandson, Bryan Ferrell.
He retired from General Motors in Defiance, Ohio, after 29 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps who served during WW II as a radio operator and gunner with the 386th Bombardment Group in the 552nd Squadron. He was a 1939 graduate of Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, W.Va., and was a member of the Grover Hill V.F.W. and Lion's Club.
Services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at Grover Hill Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Waldron will officiate. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Wednesday April 3 at the church.
Preferred memorial is Grover Hill Zion U.M. Church or Van Wert Inpatient Hospice or Grover Hill E.M.S.
