Thomas Dailey

Thomas G. Dailey, 86, of Van Wert, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1930, in Mercer County, Ohio, to Barbara (Weaver) Dailey and Amos Dailey. Both his parents are deceased.

His wife, Betty L. Dailey, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Kathy Martin of Elida, Ohio, and Kevin (Sandy) Dailey of Van Wert; daughters-in-law, Leilani Dailey of Van Wert and Ana Dailey of Archbold, Ohio; a sister, Donna (John) Baxter of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; grandchildren, Paula (Craig) Johnson of Van Wert, Ben (Sara) Martin of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Danielle (Mark) Masser of Archbold, Ohio, and great-grandchildren, Connor and Elizabeth Johnson, Asher and Amelia Martin.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Stephen Dailey, his brothers, Frank, Mirdeth, Charles, Ralph and Eugene Dailey, and six sisters, Mary Tindall, Bonnie Dittus, Lela Waggoner, Lula Springer, Wilma and Lucile Dailey.

He worked for many years at Bordon's Cheese Factory and the Van Wert Times Bulletin before retiring as an inspector at Chrysler. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert, a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the UAW Local and a former member of the American Legion.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Will Haggis will officiate. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military honor rendered by the combined units of the Van Wert VFW and American Legion. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and one hour to the service at the church.

Preferred memorial is The Tom & Betty Dailey Family bequest to Aid the Poor and Needy in Van Wert County c/o St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
