Van D. Cross, 69, of Rockford, Ohio, died on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 7:19 p.m. at the Van Wert In-Patient Hospice, after a lengthy illness. He was born June 25, 1946, to Carl D. and Anna R. (Brown) Cross, both who have preceded in death. Van was a 1964 graduate of Parkway High School. He was a life-long farmer of Rockford and a member of the Chattanooga United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, Ohio. On September 3, 2014, he married Rubia Stelzer, and she survives in Rockford. Also surviving is their son, Gabriel Cross, and his step-daughter, Maria Burogo, both at home, and one sister, Sue Counterman of Sun City, Florida. Van enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed his trips to Brazil. He loved riding his Harley with his friends and his trips to Sturgis. Most of all he loved his wife Rubia, and his children, whom he loved to play with. Services for Van will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Tom Brunstrup officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday, from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 pm.
