Vera Louise Kuhn, 76, of Rockford, Ohio, died Wednesday evening at the Van Wert In-Patient Hospice Center. She was born July 15, 1939 in Geneva, Indiana, to Roy and Bessie (Steen) Myers. In 1943, she was legally adopted by Elmer and Violet White. On January 16, 1959, she married Vernon F. Kuhn, and he survives in Rockford. Vera was the EMS coordinator for Mercer County for many years, and ran with the Rockford EMS squad for 17 years. Vera lived in Mercer County all her life, and in Rockford 56 1/2 years--moving to Rockford after marrying Vernon. She was also a member of the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary #1292 in Rockford.
Also surviving in addition to her husband Vernon, are two children: Douglas Kuhn of Willshire, Ohio, and Kristina (David) Stemen, Rockford, Ohio. Vera has one grandson, Noah Stemen. A foster brother, Philip White survives in Willshire, Ohio. Deceased are 3 brothers: Louis, Roy, and Raymond Myers, 3 sisters: Marjorie Rediger, Betty Burkhart, and Flora Jean McGill, and a foster brother, Thurmond White. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rockford United Methodist Church with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call on Sunday, at the Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford from 4-8 p.m., and at the church on Monday, 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
