Virginia (Girod) Baker, 92, of Van Wert, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born January 11, 1924, in Paulding County, the daughter of Edgar and Ruth (Mohr) Girod, who both preceded her in death. On March 24, 1945, she married Harold V. Baker, who died June 20, 1993.
Survivors include a son-in-law, Charles "Steve" Taylor of Van Wert; two brothers, David (Ruth) Girod of Van Wert and Donald Girod of Jonesboro, Georgia; a sister, Wileta (Fred) Collins of Van Wert; three grandchildren, Donny Taylor, Jody (Tami) Taylor, and Chuck (Michelle) Taylor; and six great-grandchildren, Danielle, Hannah, Tristan, Logan, Zannah, and Charlee.
Two daughters, Janet L. Baker and Janice E. Taylor; two brothers, Wayne Girod and Lloyd Darwin "Doc" Girod; and a sister, Helen Mongold, also preceded her in death.
Virginia was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Van Wert.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Mohr Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 23, at the funeral home.
