Virginia Harter

July 14, 1932 — November 2, 2015

Virginia P. "Ginny" Harter, 83, of Van Wert, died at 5:37 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.

She was born July 14, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Lena (Pollock) Scott and Dale Scott.

Her husband, Max Harter, survives of Van Wert. They were married July 8, 1950.

Other survivors include children, Sheryl Tumblin-Burgei of Ft. Jennings, Ohio, Carol (Gary) Lininger, Jana (Roy) Ringwald, and Karen (Robert) Ashley, all of Van Wert, and Donald (Kim) Harter of Ohio City, Ohio, grandchildren, Katie Lininger, Melissa (James) McKean, Michelle (Matt) Menke, Matthew Tumblin, Jessica (Eric) Armstrong, Emily (Trevor) Sill, Cally (Tim) Lange, Hope Ringwald, Mitchell Ringwald, Megan Ashley, Mike (Jennifer) Burgei, Angela (Tom) Pettinger, and great-grandchildren, Alexandra Lininger, Jimmie MeKean, Carson McKean, Kennedi McKean, Kaylee Lange, Grace Lange, Oliver Sill, Gabryelle Sill, Hayzell Sill, Dylan Armstrong, Corbyn Armstrong, Abigail Pettinger, Samantha Pettinger, Joey Pettinger, Brandt Menke, Calvin Menke, Stella Menke, William Burgei, and Victoria Burgei.

She was preceded in death by sons-in-law, DeWayne Tumblin and Don Burgei, a sister, Lillian Masing, and a grandchild, Sarah Harter.

She retired in 1995 from Van Wert National Bank after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert, a past member of the Altar's Guild of St. Marks Lutheran Church, a member of the Caregivers of St. Marks Lutheran Church, and a member and past secretary of T.W.I.G. I in Van Wert.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Will Haggis will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio.

Visitation is 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is St. Marks Lutheran Church or T.W.I.G. I.
