SEYMOUR, Tenn. - Vondale Taylor, 89, of Seymour, Tenn., formerly of Van Wert, Ohio, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at the Ft. Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

He was born April 16, 1921, in Cavett, Ohio, to the late Grace (Miller) Taylor and Rollo Taylor. On June 28, 1942, he married Marjorie Marie (Dunlap) Taylor. She died April 26, 2008.

Survivors include his children: Eric (Cathy) Taylor of Van Wert, Karen (John) Lippi of Knoxville, Tenn., and Janell (Gary) Dicke of Seymour, Tenn.; a sister: Lillian Saam of Van Wert; his grandchildren: Cheryl Poling of Convoy, Ohio, Brian Lippi of Sevierville, Tenn., Travis Dicke of Ohio City, Ohio, and Ryan Dicke of Van Wert; a stepgrandchild: Lori Bryde of Van Wert; his great-grandchildren: Tabby, Johnathan, Gage, and Jake Lippi of Tennessee and Rachel and Katelyn Poling of Convoy, and great-great-grandchildren: Lainey and Landon Kirk of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Clyde, Benjamin, James, William, Virgil, and Raymond Taylor as well as two additional brothers (Eugene and Welcome Taylor) who died in infancy, and his sisters: Mable Lee, Ethel Tyas, Betty Routt and Lois Williamson.

He was a former member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church of Van Wert, had been the general manager of the Union Quarry Co. in Van Wert County and had served as a vice-president and on the Board of Directors.

He served in the US Army during WWII and had been a member of the Van Wert American Legion and VFW Posts.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery, Van Wert County. Military graveside service will be conducted by the Van Wert American Legion and VFW Posts.

Calling hours are 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is donor's choice.
