VAN WERT, Ohio - Walter L. Stephens, Sr., 68, of Van Wert, died at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
He was born June 19, 1942, in Deer Lodge, Tenn., to the late Ova (Hurst) Stephens and James Elbert Stephens. His wife, Erma (Lantis) Stephens, survives of Van Wert.
Other survivors include his children: Richard Stephens of Lima, Ohio, Walter L. (Deanna) Stephens, Jr. of Van Wert, Ohio, Rose Stephens of Lima, Stephanie Stephens of Lima, Raenita Stephens Spaeth of Defiance, Ohio, and Carl Stephens of Decatur, Ind.; a sister: Jeanne Donahue of Lima; 13 grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews, and one special nephew: James Stephens of Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Two brothers, Jack and James Stephens, and a sister, Lois Stephens Hamby, are deceased.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and sent to the funeral home.
