William H. Scott, 88, of Van Wert, at 7:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Van Wert Manor, Van Wert.
He was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Middle Point, Ohio, to the late Laura (Jones) Scott and Ernest Scott.
His wife, Doris (Smith) Scott, survives of Van Wert. They were married May 28, 1949.
Other survivors include: children: Judy (David) Mead of Columbus, Ohio, Susie (Harvey) Stoller of Van Wert, and Nancy Garibay of Maumee, Ohio, four grandchildren: Zach (Heather) Stoller, Nick (Chrissy) Stoller, Alex Garibay, Mercedes Mead, and a great-granddaughter: Olivia Stoller.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild: Becca Mead, two brothers: John and Paul Scott, and two sisters: Eva Williman and Ruby Brenneman.
He was a retired Nationwide Insurance agent, achieving Certified Life Underwriter Designation and had worked at Continental Can Co., Van Wert, for many years. He was a current member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, and a former member of Middle Point United Methodist Church, Middle Point, Ohio. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII and was a charter member of Middle Point Lion's Club.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. Gus Christo-Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.
Visitation will be in 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is First United Methodist Church or Lion's Club Eye Bank.
